Michael, born in Italy and came to the USA in 1927, is the father of Phil Zampino. Michael worked for Zampino`s Drum Shop/School of Music, PAZ Percussion/PAZ Publishing and Drummers Distribution, in shipping/receiving for many years. He was the Supervisor-in-charge of all incoming and outgoing shipments. He shipped merchandise to customers all around the world, and took great pride in making sure the customer always received the correct merchandise without damage. Michael had a great deal of fun with his grandkids, Phillip Jr., Deana, Anjanette and Michael when he worked at the Drum Shop. He often teased them by boxing them up and telling them he was going to ship them somewhere. He very much enjoyed attending the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchant) Convention Shows at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Both Michael and Helen came from hard working Italian families with high morals and impeccable character. They taught heir children Honesty, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Courtesy, Tolerance, Fairness, Compassion, Cooperation, Commitment and the LOVE OF MUSIC. More importantly they both lived their lives the same way. It is because of these two beloved Italians (Michael and Helen Zampino), that many students and customers, around the world have benefited musically by Zampino`s Drum Shop/School of Music and The PAZ Music Businesses. It is through their LOVE OF MUSIC, which was passed down through their offspring, Benjamin, Carol, Phillip and Anita, that many people have been touched by the joy of music. How many lives have they affected by their love of music trickling down through their offspring and through others? My guess is MILLIONS! Two hard working beloved Italians simply loved music and at the same time gave that same love of music to millions of people without knowing they were doing it. Their contribution to this life and this world has been great. |
